Bert...the hero

Bert is a hero! We went to Allison and Bert's house lastnight for our Monday night dinner ritual, ha. They have a bird that keeps nesting up inside their front porch area. Well when the last babies flew away Bert forgot to knock it down so guess what...they are back with and new babies have hatched! Allison found out that one of them had fallen out of the nest and couldn't fly away yet. It could flutter around but not really get off the ground, so sad. You can see the other two siblings looking down for it as he/she chirped away for help. 

So we FINALLY talked Bert into getting the ladder out and sticking the baby back up in it's nest. THANKS! He really did save it's life...so we think.

So after a little while we went back to check on them and this is what we saw. The originally 2 that stayed in the nest on one side and the little one that fell out on the other side. You can see the 2 heads on the right and if you look closely you can see the little beak on the left side of the nest. SO SAD...hopefully they don't disown him/her.

PS: When we first got their and went outside to look at the baby bird he was right outside the door. (FYI...Bert had told Allison he tried putting the bird back in the nest once but he flew away) He just sat there as we all walked by him and stared at him. Well...Allison remembered Bert saying he could fly and he couldn't so she was very upset at Bert. Bert swore the little thing flew away and wanted to prove himself. So he kinda ran at the little guy and scooted his foot to make him go. Well he went alright...right inside the house. It was hilarious!!! I ran outside to get away from him and Allison FLIPPED out. She was yelling and crying all at the same time. It was priceless! So we have a VERY eventful night lastnight!
